Story from parents Dr. Craig and Kathy Hoffmeier

As parents of two Durham Public Schools’ graduates (Nathan – 2009 and Katie – 2010), my husband and I are happy to share our thoughts on DPS with you! Overall, we are very pleased with the academic and social experience that Nate and Kate received in grades K – 12 within the DPS system. We believe that they were challenged and encouraged to do their BEST. We are proud of their academic accomplishments and ability to form friendships with students from down the street and around the world.

We are most grateful to DPS teachers, counselors and staff – they were AMAZING – knowledgeable, helpful, and dedicated to their profession. We have many wonderful stories to tell over our 15 years history with DPS (1995-2010). FYI – our children began at Pearsontown Elementary (K-3); were redistricted to the newly renovated Hope Valley Elementary (grades 3-5); thereafter Nate went to Rogers-Herr Middle School and Kate went to Githens Middle School; both attended Jordan HS from 9-12 grade. Nathan currently attends UNC at Asheville and Katie attends Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
