Parent Aretha Burford Rice's story

I am a proud Panda parent from Pearsontown Elementary school. My daughter is in second grade and loves it. This year is our first experience in the Durham public school system. I must say getting accepted in Pearsontown has been a wonderful transition. Leaving private school was quite a big decision for us but we wanted a more rounded atmosphere for our daughter to evolve in.

Pearsontown has been just what we were looking for. Academically she is being challenged! She loves math and was tested for academic acceleration and now participates in AIG classes. Her teachers welcome us to volunteer and participate as often as we can. The principal is on top of his job. The school itself is well run. The PTA is a driving force for the children. They actively fund raise and campaign to bring funds back into our school while promoting fun outings for the children and families. Coming from a small, conservative atmosphere into a big, blossoming atmosphere has been a welcomed change. We look forward to completing our elementary years at Pearsontown and moving onto Rogers Herr middle school.
