Parent Molly Reingruber's story

I was very skeptical about Montessori, but took a leap of faith and couldn’t be happier that I did! I have two boys, one is very independent, the other needed more direction. Montessori doesn’t mean that the kids dictate their education, but that the work is prepared so that they can become independent learners. If your child needs direction, he will get it. If your child wants to keep going to the next challenging concept, they won’t be held back. The teachers were trained to understand individual needs and meet the children where they are. The principal is wonderful. You can always count on her to get things done.

Test scores are going up every year, and will probably take off now that Montessori is finally in full implementation at Watts. You have a link to a small middle school, Lakewood Montessori Middle. The Watts AIG teacher is a rock star. The Montessori teachers have always been warm and welcoming to me and my children. They are also very creative, and like to think outside the box. Montessori is more than just a curriculum; it’s a whole attitude toward children. Still not sure? The guys who started Google credit their Montessori elementary education with their success!
