Parent Crystal Bethea's story

When it was time for my son to go to middle I school I was not prepared. Chewning is the first school we have attended that was in our district. I have always taken my children where I wanted them to go. Back then Chewning had a lot of bad press and I was really leery about sending him there. I attended a 30 minute “open house” type meeting and ended up staying there over 2 hours. Mr. Johnson was very patient and allowed me to speak with other staff members there. The teachers are wonderful and knowledgeable and make the lessons interesting for the students. He participates in sports, the science decathlon and the Encore program. I’m glad I went for that “30 min” open house; it’s the best decision I’ve made regarding my son’s education.
